Dundee Hostel opens after renovation project.

Dundee Backpackers hostel is in a great location on the High Street with numerous shops, eateries, pubs and clubs right on your doorstep.  The hostel opened in spring 2008 following a painstaking two year renovation project.  It was however worth the wait as the five buildings that make up the hostel are now beautifully restored. Enter through the huge ornate iron front gate and you find reception in the oldest part of the hostel; the ‘Gardyne' building which dates back to 1560 and is the finest remaining example of late medieval architecture in the city.  Reception is located in an ancient courtyard which is now covered by a spectacular glass roof.  Other parts of the hostel date back to the 17th and 18th centuries and display the architectural style of their era. All five buildings are of immense character and even have their own little on-site museum full of information and artefacts from the buildings' history.

The accommodation is luxurious by hostel standards offering all mod cons in a unique medieval atmosphere. There is a selection of room types and style from which to choose and many have en suite facilities. The double and twin bedrooms are particularly spacious and many contain examples of the buildings' preserved heritage. Train and bus stations are within a 5 minute walk and you cannot miss the hostel on the centre of the city's main thoroughfare.  During the day you can visit the local attractions such as Discovery Point, Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre and McManus Galleries which are mostly just a short stroll form the hostel. In this fabulous location, with such friendly staff and comfortable accommodation Dundee Backpackers Hostel is the best place to stay in town.
